Careers in Conservation
Whether you work with East Maui Watershed Partnership or one of the many other conservation organizations, a great way to get involved is to make it your career. There are several places to get involved in environmental work on Maui at the State, Federal, and non-profit level.
Clean your Hiking Gear
Dirty hiking or hunting gear can spread invasive seeds and diseases. Do you part by making sure each time you leave or before you enter a new areas you properly clean it.
- Check-Remove all debris from boots and gear. Pick off any seeds, clean out pockets and clean Velcro.
- Brush-Brush or spray off any dirt from the bottom and tops of boots or shoes.
- Disinfect-Spray footwear with a 70% rubbing alcohol to kill any plant diseases.
Volunteer
We rely on the help of individuals with wide variety of interests, skills, and availability. Most volunteer opportunities range from helping to do field work to office work. East Maui Watershed Partnership does offer small group watershed restoration trips to Haleakala Ranchʻs Puʻu Pahu Reserve.
Training for Tour Guides
Due to support from the Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority East Maui Watershed Partnership, Maui Invasive Species Committee and Maui Forest Bird Recovery Project have created a program to help provide Maui tour guides with an effective way to communicate information about the species and environments they are working to protect.
Fund
We won’t make you fly in and pick weeds along the fence line, but you can help us by getting involved in making a tax deductible donation to support East Maui Watershed Partnership’s efforts or by becoming a 1% for the Planet partner. Visit our Donation page for more information.
Everyday Action
You can help us spread the word of the watershed. Visit the education tab for upcoming events you can join us at, to find resources to learn about the watershed and how to go green, and for opportunities to have an EMWP representative come and bring the watershed to you.
